This year African Initiatives will reaffirm its connections with global education through its latest project. Now we want to hear from you if you can help out at a series of upcoming events taking place around Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire.
Over the course of the coming year African Initiatives will go out on the road again to deliver a series of fun events aimed at promoting global education and AI’s work with partners in Ghana and Tanzania.
The ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ project, which this year benefited from funding from the Big Lottery Fund, will see an AI presence at fairs and fetes, food festivals and music festivals between now and June 2014. At these events we’ll be running a stall to share ideas about global education, cultural awareness, diversity and sustainable development in a fun and lively way.
And this is where we need you…
As part of this project we’re looking for friendly volunteers happy to interact with members of the public at upcoming events. With an interest in international development, Africa, or education, or just with a passion to make an impact in your local community, you’ll be ideally placed to talk about the issues involved.
In return you’ll gain new transferable skills, including event management, and thanks to the flexible structure of the project you’ll be able to really use your own creativity to help us deliver ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ in the most innovative and memorable ways possible.
You must be able to commit to one training session and you must also be prepared to use these new skills at a minimum of one local community event or festival. You’ll work with another volunteer at events, using resources provided by African Initiatives.
