Volunteer with us

The African Initiatives team is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers (both student and professional) who assist our staff with fundraising, communications and programmes tasks, ranging from drafting social media content, running events, data analysis and researching funding opportunities. We would love to hear from you if you have a skill to offer or experience you would like to gain.

If you are interested in getting involved, send your CV to info@african-initiatives.org.uk and we will get in touch about ways you assist us with volunteering. In the meantime, read Communications volunteer Charlotte’s recent blog on Student Volunteering Week and what it is like to give your time for African Initiatives, or read the testimonials below.

My name is Jinene, I’m originally from Tunisia and I now live in the UK. I have always liked helping others; I previously volunteered for a humanitarian NGO forum based in Turkey, which supported beneficiaries from the Syrian crisis. I’m an expert in languages, including French, Italian, Arabic and English. I decided to use my experience to support African Initiatives in raising funds from Trusts and Foundations to promote women’s rights and girls’ education work with our partners in Tanzania.

I’m Sandi and I’ve been doing academic social science research for eight years. This year, I decided to start putting my research skills to use in the charity sector. Given my long-standing interest in, and desire to delve more deeply into, global politics and women’s rights, African Initiatives was the perfect place to start my new adventure. As programme support volunteer, I’m working on several projects that aim to improve the lives of women and children in Tanzania. What I love about AI is that partnership working is at the heart of all of these projects.
